Thirty bingo cards, two to a page, each with sixteen addition facts within 20, such as 8 + 7. The teacher calls a sum, and children look for the fact on their card that makes it: when 15 is called, 8 + 7 is marked. No card holds two facts with the same sum, so every call marks one square at most. After the cards come calling cards for the sums 0 to 20, to cut apart and draw one at a time, and a caller's checklist to tick each sum and check a winning card.
Give children a few minutes to solve every fact on their card first and write the sums small in the corners, or play straight away for fluency practice. Draw a calling card and say the sum. To call from the board instead, open the Bingo Caller set to addition within 20: it calls the sums at random, says them out loud and keeps a board of every call.
Play with a card each and the calling cards in a bowl. When your child marks a square, ask how they found the sum.
