Hanukkah, the Jewish festival of lights, lasts eight nights. Families light one more candle on the menorah each night, play the dreidel game for chocolate gelt and eat foods fried in oil, such as latkes and jelly doughnuts. In 2026 Hanukkah begins on the evening of December 4 and ends on December 12.
Six Hanukkah pictures to color by code. Every space holds a fact: children solve it, find the answer in the color key at the top, and color the space that color. Pages 1 and 2 are adding within 20 (a menorah and a dreidel), pages 3 and 4 subtracting (an oil jug and a jelly doughnut, then latkes and applesauce), and pages 5 and 6 mix adding and subtracting on one page (a bowl of gelt and a bag of gelt). Some colors have two answers ("12 or 16"), and a space too small for a fact shows it in a column or shows just its answer.
Use the adding pages first and the mixed pages last, or give each child the page that fits. Remind children to look at the sign before they solve on pages 5 and 6. Color the key's circles together before starting.
Solve a few facts aloud together, then let your child color those spaces. If a space turns out the wrong color, solve its fact again together.
