How to Use This Pack

Fifty-five triangle cards, six to a sheet, one for every multiplication fact family to 10 × 10, from 1, 1 and 1 to 10, 10 and 100, in order of the product. The product sits at the top corner and the two factors at the bottom corners, with × and ÷ between them. One child covers a corner and the other names the hidden number: cover the product and they multiply, cover a factor and they divide. The cards have no backs, so print them one-sided, and cut along the dashed line around each one.

In the Classroom

In pairs, one child covers a corner and the partner says the hidden number and the fact they used ("42 ÷ 6 = 7"). Hand out one table's triangles at a time, such as every card with a 6. Ask for all four facts of a family: 6 × 7, 7 × 6, 42 ÷ 6 and 42 ÷ 7.

At Home

Pick out the triangles for the table your child is learning and practice those first. Cover the product to practice multiplying and a factor to practice dividing.

Tips for Success

  • Cover the top to multiply; cover a bottom corner to divide
  • Division undoes multiplication: 42 ÷ 6 = 7 because 6 × 7 = 42
  • Say all four facts of a family
  • A square number has only two facts: 6 × 6 = 36 and 36 ÷ 6 = 6
  • Card stock makes the triangles last

Common Core Standards Alignment

This pack supports the following Common Core State Standards for Mathematics:

  • 3.OA.B.6 Treat division as finding a missing factor: solve 35 ÷ 5 by asking what times 5 equals 35.
  • 3.OA.C.7 Multiply and divide to 100 fluently with strategies, and by year's end instantly recall every product of two single-digit numbers.
