Twenty-five triangle cards, six to a sheet, one for every fact family within 10 with no zeros, from 1, 1 and 2 to 5, 5 and 10. The sum sits at the top corner and the two parts at the bottom corners, with + and − between them. One child covers a corner with a thumb and the other names the hidden number: cover the sum and they add, cover a part and they subtract. The cards have no backs, so print them one-sided, and cut along the dashed line around each one.
In pairs, one child holds a triangle and covers one corner; the partner says the hidden number and the fact they used ("5 − 2 = 3"). For a whole-class warm-up, cover a corner under the document camera. Ask for all four facts of a family: 2 + 3, 3 + 2, 5 − 2 and 5 − 3.
Cover a corner and ask, then let your child cover one and ask you. Saying the four facts of a triangle out loud helps them stick.
