Sixty-six flash cards, eight to a sheet, one for every addition fact within 10, from 0 + 0 to 10 + 0, with turnaround facts such as 3 + 5 and 5 + 3 on cards of their own. Each front shows a fact stacked as in a column; its back shows the sum, with the fact printed small in the corner for sorting. Print the pack double-sided and flip on the long edge: each back sheet is laid out mirrored, so every card's back lands behind its front. On a printer that prints one side, choose Fronts only under Print, put the printed sheets back in the paper tray, then choose Backs only. Fronts have a thick frame and backs a thin one, so a card turned the wrong way stands out.
Hold up a card for the class to answer together, or give partners a pile: one shows a card, the other says the sum, and the card is turned over to check. Start with the + 0, + 1 and + 2 facts and the doubles, then add the facts that make 10. Sort the facts a child knows from the ones that need practice.
Go through a handful of cards a day rather than the whole set. Put the facts your child knows in one pile and the rest in another, and watch the second pile shrink.
