Six Christmas pictures to color by code. Every space holds an adding or subtracting fact within 20: children solve it, find the answer in the color key at the top, and color the space that color. Some colors have two answers, and white parts have no problem and stay white. Pages 1 and 2 add (a Christmas tree and a gingerbread man), pages 3 and 4 subtract (a wreath and a sack of toys), and pages 5 and 6 mix adding and subtracting (an ornament and a candy cane, then jingle bells).
Use the pages for fact practice in the weeks before winter break, or as a math center. Color the key's circles first, so the colors are ready. Pages 5 and 6 make children read each sign before they solve.
Let your child solve a row, then color it, so the picture grows bit by bit. For a hard fact, make a ten: 8 + 5 is 8 + 2 + 3.
