Five pages of finding numbers. On page 1 each row starts with a number in a box: children circle that number every time it comes up in the row, among numbers that look like it. Page 2 is a picture of animals with numbers hidden around them: color each 7. Page 3 matches the numbers 1 to 5, then 6 to 10, to the same numbers on cards in another order. On page 4 children write the missing number in a row of number cards, and on page 5 they circle the ten frame that shows the number in the box.
Say the number in the box together before children circle: "This is a 6. Find every 6." Point out the look-alikes as they come up: a 9 is a 6 turned upside down, and a 7 has no bottom like a 1. On page 2, let children color each 7 with a crayon as they find it, then count how many they found. Page 4 works well with a number line or a row of number cards on the board to check.
Go on a number hunt: look for numbers on clocks, signs, the remote and the calendar, and say each one. Write the numbers 0 to 10 on sticky notes, mix them up and ask your child to find one, then put them in order.
