Five pages about sharing a group fairly. On page 1 students share 4 to 10 things between 2 friends by drawing a line from each one to a plate, then write how many each friend gets; the first problem is done as an example. Page 2 shows six sets of plates that are already filled, and students circle yes if every friend got the same and no if not. Page 3 shares 6, 9, 12 and 15 things among 3 friends: students draw them in the bowls and write how many are in each. Page 4 deals out cookies, stickers and fruit in turn, "1 for you, 1 for you", by drawing each friend's shape under the thing they get. Page 5 has four sharing stories, such as 2 kids sharing 6 balls, to solve by drawing.
Act it out before page 1: give two students a plate each and hand out 6 crayons or blocks, "1 for you, 1 for you", while the class counts. Ask whether it is fair and how they know. Then let partners share counters on paper plates while they work. Read the directions and the stories on page 5 aloud.
Share snacks fairly at home: crackers, grapes or apple slices between two people, then among three. Deal them out one at a time and count to check that everyone has the same. Ask what to do when there is one left over.
