Four pictures to color by code. Every space holds a fact: children solve it, find the answer in the color key at the top, and color the space that color. Pages 1 and 2 are adding within 10: a walking turkey, then a gourd, a pumpkin and an acorn squash. Pages 3 and 4 are subtracting within 10: acorns under oak leaves, then a pumpkin pie and a slice. Some colors have two answers ("3 or 8"), and a space too small for a fact shows just its answer.
Solve the first space or two together. Ten frames, counters or fingers help with the facts. The color copy has the key's circles colored in for children who cannot read the color words yet; on the black-and-white copy, color the circles together first.
Solve a few facts aloud together, then let your child color those spaces. Act out a tricky fact with small things like cereal or buttons.
