How to Use This Pack

Six pages of multiplication practice with Thanksgiving pictures along the bottom. Pages 1 and 2 are timed drills of 36 facts each, written in digit boxes, with lines for the start and end time. Page 3 starts with a row to answer, then four rows with a missing factor or a missing digit in the product. Page 4 shows equal jumps from 0, like 0, 3, 6, 9, 12: students write the size of each jump and the fact it makes (4 jumps of 3 make 12, so 4 × 3 = 12). Pages 5 and 6 practice multiplying by 8 and by 9, then end with two fact family triangles.

In the Classroom

Use the timed pages across a week of fact practice, with students recording their times. The jump page connects skip counting to multiplication and is a good one to model on the board first.

At Home

Time page 1 one day and page 2 the next. For a tricky fact, skip count together on your fingers until you reach it.

Tips for Success

  • Skip count to check a fact you are not sure of
  • For a missing factor, ask: what times this makes that?
  • The first jump box is an example, already filled in
  • Facts with 0, 1, and 10 are quick wins: do them first

Common Core Standards Alignment

This pack supports the following Common Core State Standards for Mathematics:

  • 3.OA.A.1 Understand a product as the total in equal groups, such as 4 × 6 meaning 4 groups with 6 in each.
  • 3.OA.A.4 Solve for the missing number in multiplying or dividing equations, such as 7 × ? = 42 or ? ÷ 3 = 6.
  • 3.OA.B.6 Treat division as finding a missing factor: solve 35 ÷ 5 by asking what times 5 equals 35.
  • 3.OA.C.7 Multiply and divide to 100 fluently with strategies, and by year's end instantly recall every product of two single-digit numbers.
