Four winter pictures to color by number. Every space shows a number; children find it in the color key at the top, where each number has its dots beside it to count, and color the space that color. The snow has no number and stays white. Pages 1 and 2 use the numbers 1 to 4 (a snowman, then a knit hat and mittens), pages 3 and 4 the numbers 6 to 9 (a penguin and a mug of hot cocoa). Each page comes in color, with colored circles in the key for children who cannot read the color words yet, and in black and white, with empty circles to color first.
Color the key's circles together first, saying each number and counting its dots. Children who know their numbers can work alone; others can work with a partner who points to the key. There is nothing from any holiday on the pages, so they suit any class from December to February.
Name each number together and count its dots in the key. Let your child choose a number and find every space with it before moving on.
