How to Use This Pack

Each maze is a grid of numbers or facts. From Start, students move up, down, left, or right onto the next space that follows the rule, coloring as they go, until they reach Finish. The wrong turns are close calls, like facts that equal 12 or 14 when the rule is 13, so every space needs checking. Page 1: odd numbers. Page 2: addition facts that equal 13. Page 3: subtraction facts that equal 7. Page 4: multiples of 4. Page 5: multiplication facts greater than 40. Page 6: division facts that equal 8.

In the Classroom

Good for early finishers and math centers on cold days and indoor recess. Choose pages by level: pages 1 to 3 for 1st and 2nd grade, pages 4 to 6 for 3rd grade. The path never runs alongside itself, so there is exactly one way through, and the answer keys shade it.

At Home

Have your child say each answer out loud before stepping onto a space. If they get stuck, go back to the last space that fit the rule and check the spaces around it.

Tips for Success

  • Check every space next to you before you move
  • Move up, down, left, or right, never on a diagonal
  • Color each space as you step on it
  • Stuck? Back up to the last space that fit the rule

Common Core Standards Alignment

This pack supports the following Common Core State Standards for Mathematics:

  • 1.OA.C.6 Add and subtract to 20, working fluently within 10, with strategies like counting on, making ten, fact families and doubles plus one.
  • 2.OA.B.2 Add and subtract to 20 quickly using strategies done in the head, and by year's end instantly recall every sum of two single-digit numbers.
  • 2.OA.C.3 Decide if up to 20 objects are odd or even (match them in twos or skip count by 2s); write evens as doubles.
  • 3.OA.C.7 Multiply and divide to 100 fluently with strategies, and by year's end instantly recall every product of two single-digit numbers.
