Five pages of snowman building. Page 1 is Roll and Build a Snowman, a dice game for two: each number on the die builds a part (1 the bottom snowball, 2 the middle, 3 the head, 4 the hat, 5 the face, 6 the arms), traced on a dashed snowman from the bottom up, with a tally mark for every roll. Page 2 has three snowmen, each with three numbers to 20 to cut out and glue in order, the smallest on the head and the biggest at the bottom. Page 3 has two snowmen and their parts to cut out: each part has an adding fact within 10, and it is glued where its answer is. Page 4 gives every snowman ten buttons, two by two as in a ten frame: draw the missing ones and write how many more. Page 5 is page 2 again with numbers to 100.
Play page 1 in pairs at a math center, then ask who needed the most rolls and why some numbers took a long time to come up. Pages 2 and 5 work well with real paper snowballs on the board first: which number is smallest? Which is biggest? On page 3 the parts of both snowmen are the same shapes, so children have to add to know which snowman each one belongs to. There is nothing from any holiday on the pages, so they suit any class from December to February.
Play the dice game together and count the tally marks at the end. On page 4, count the buttons by twos down the snowman, then count on to 10 for the missing ones.

Snowman building with counting, number order and adding within 10. Children roll a die to build a snowman part by part, put each snowman's numbers in order from the head down, glue snowman parts where their sums are and give every snowman its ten buttons.
