In much of North America and Europe, December brings the first snow, mittens and hats, hot cocoa and birds at the feeder. These pages use those things and no holiday, so they suit any day of the month in any school.
Six pages that build from kindergarten to 2nd grade. Page 1 hides stars, squares, triangles and diamonds on a snowy cabin and a fir tree: find each one, color a box on the graph for it, and write how many. Page 2 has six groups of winter pictures to count, set out in rows of five. Page 3 is a cardinal to color by code: every space holds an adding or subtracting fact within 10, and the color key at the top gives the color for each answer. Page 4 is a December calendar to fill in: find the day December 1 falls on this year, write 1 there and fill in the rest, then answer five questions. Page 5 is a string of lights to color by code with facts within 20. Page 6 has five story problems, three within 20 and two within 100.
Page 4 fits calendar time on the first school day of December: find the 1st on a real calendar together, then let children write the dates. The color-by-code pages make good morning work or a math center in the busy weeks before winter break. In the color copy the circles in the color key are filled in for children who cannot read the color words yet; in the black-and-white copy, children can color each circle first.
Look out of the window together and count the birds, the hats or the snowflakes you can see. Ask your child what day it is today, what day it was yesterday and what day it will be tomorrow, and count the days left in December together.

Mixed math practice for December, with snowflakes, snowmen, penguins, a cardinal and a string of lights and no holiday on any page. Children find and graph hidden shapes, count winter groups, color by code with addition and subtraction facts, fill in the month's calendar and solve December story problems.
