Five pages of copywork, three sentences a page, from the sight word packs: every word is a Dolch sight word or a word children can sound out by then. The first two pages are pre-primer sentences and the next two primer sentences; the first three pages give each sentence in dashed letters to trace, and the last two print it in ink to copy, ending with first grade sentences. Each sentence has a line under it to write it on.
Read each sentence together, pointing to each word, before children write. Pair a page with the matching sight word list: the sentences use the same words. Ask children to check the capital at the start and the mark at the end.
Have your child read the sentence to you, then trace or copy it. Ask them to find the sight words in a favorite book.
Handwriting practice copying short sentences made of sight words and words children can sound out. Children trace each sentence in print, then copy sentences on their own.
