Fifty-two pages, one for each Dolch primer word from all to yes, the list that follows the pre-primer words. A banner at the top shows the word. Six boxes follow: trace it from its start dots, color it in bubble letters, write it on handwriting lines, circle it each time it is in a grid of words that look like it, spell it a letter to a box and read it in a sentence with a picture. Every sentence is made of pre-primer and primer words and words a child can sound out, such as fish and frog. The answer keys circle the word and spell it.
Put the page on the board as the word of the day: read the word together, spell it aloud and use it in a sentence. Words that look alike, such as was and saw or there and three, are worth a minute side by side. Keep the words on a word wall as you go, and read the sentences from earlier days to warm up.
Read the word together, then hunt for it in a picture book. Make two cards of each word you have done and play a matching game, reading each card you turn over.
A page for each Dolch primer sight word, from all to yes, made for a word of the day routine. Children trace each word, color it, write it, find it among words that look like it, spell it a letter to a box and read it in a sentence.
