One page to give on the first day of the unit on numbers to 120, before any teaching. Its seven questions are on what the unit builds on: counting on and back, part of a row of the 120 chart, the numbers before, after and between, counting full ten frames by tens, counting on past 100 and a number line from 10 to 20. It has a Score line, and the key names the lesson each question leads into. The unit review and the unit test are packs of their own.
Give the pre-check on the first day and sort the class by what they missed: a student who stops at 30 or at 100 when counting on needs a 120 chart to point along, and one who counts every dot one by one needs to practice counting by tens. Counting past 100 is new to most students, so a miss there is no surprise; it shows where to start.
Use it to see what your child needs before the unit on numbers to 120 starts: count on from a number like 27 or 98 together, then count back, and listen for where your child gets stuck.

A check to give before the unit on numbers to 120, on what the unit builds on. Students count on and back, fill in part of the 120 chart, write the numbers before, after and between, count ten frames by tens and finish a number line.
