The unit test on word problems and multiplying by tens. Pages 1 and 2 are Form A. Pages 3 and 4 are Form B: the same kinds of question in the same order with different numbers, for a retake, a make-up or a second seating. Each form has 12 questions, one point each, and a Score line on its first page. Questions 10 to 12, on the second page, are the state questions: an area model for a 2-digit number times a 1-digit number, times as many, and true or false equations with × and ÷. The pre-check and the unit review are packs of their own.
Give Form A the day after the unit review. For most stories students write an equation with a ? for the unknown, with the sign in the circle, and the answer with its unit. The keys show one equation for each story; any equation that fits is right (56 ÷ 8 = ? as well as 8 × ? = 56, and any letter for the unknown). Questions 10 to 12 are taught in 3rd grade in some states only: leave out the ones your class does not learn and score out of what is left. The answer keys name each question's skill, so a missed question points to the lesson to reteach.
Use Form B as a check after the unit. Read each story together and ask your child what the question is before they solve it: how many in all, how many in each group, or how many groups?

The unit test for word problems and multiplying by tens, in two forms. Students multiply by multiples of 10, write equations with a ? or a letter for the unknown, solve one-step and two-step stories with all four operations and estimate to check an answer.
