Ten pages, one for each number from 1 to 10, with everything about that number on one sheet. At the top is a big bubble number with numbered start dots and arrows, beside a box with that many animals in rows of five: a whale for 1, two elephants, three lions and so on. Below, children trace and write the number on handwriting lines, then trace its word, starting from an example. At the bottom they color that many boxes of a ten frame and write the number to finish the sentence. The answer keys write the number in the sentence and color the ten frame.
Use one page a day as the number of the day. Count the animals together, touching each one, then trace the big number in the air before tracing it on the page. Read the number word out loud as children trace it. For the ten frame, have children fill the top row first, left to right, and say how many empty boxes are left.
Count the animals with your child, then ask them to find that many things around the house, such as spoons or toy cars. Read the number word together and point to each letter as you say it.
