Five Christmas tree crafts in black and white. Each page has a tree to color and a strip of things to cut out beside it. On page 1 children color and cut out a star, six ornaments (one with Santa’s face, one with a reindeer’s), two candy canes, a bow and two presents and decorate the tree any way they like. Pages 2 to 4 have six dashed spots on the tree: children glue each ornament on its spot, matching the dots to a number (1 to 6), a shape to the same shape, and an addition fact to its sum. Page 5 is two trees to color and cut out, each with a slit; slide them together and the tree stands up.
Have children color the pieces before they cut, and cut the strip off the page first so the tree stays whole. Gluing by number, shape or sum is a quiet check: an ornament left over shows a mix-up. The standing trees make a festive table display for a class party.
Color the pieces together, then let your child cut and glue. Count the dots or say each fact aloud before gluing. Glue the decorated tree onto colored paper to hang it up.
