How to Use This Pack

Five fall pages that move from pictures to numbers. Pages 1 and 2 compare two groups of the same picture (circle more, then circle fewer). Page 3 counts two groups and writes >, <, or =, page 4 does the same with double ten frames to 20, and page 5 compares two-digit numbers with no pictures at all.

In the Classroom

Kindergarten classes can stop after page 3; first grade can work through page 5. The reminder strip at the top of pages 3 to 5 shows each symbol with its words, so students can check themselves.

At Home

Line up real objects, like leaves, coins, or crackers, in two rows and ask which row has more. On the number pages, ask your child to read each finished line out loud: “42 is greater than 38.”

Tips for Success

• Match the pictures one to one: the group with pictures left over has more
• On the ten frame page, a full frame is 10, so start counting at 10
• For two-digit numbers, compare the tens first; if the tens match, compare the ones
• Read each answer aloud with the words greater than, less than, or equal to

• K.CC.C.6 - Identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group
• K.CC.C.7 - Compare two numbers between 1 and 10 presented as written numerals
• 1.NBT.B.3 - Compare two two-digit numbers based on meanings of the tens and ones digits, recording the results with the symbols >, =, and <
