How to Use This Pack

Four fall skip counting pages. Pages 1 to 3 show equal groups (pairs, groups of five, and strips of ten) and ask for a running total under or beside each group; the first total is filled in as an example. Page 4 has eight number patterns with missing numbers, counting by 2s, 5s, 10s, and 100s, some starting from numbers that are not multiples.

In the Classroom

Count the first row of each page out loud together, tapping each group, before students work alone. Page 4 makes a good warm-up discussion: how did you know the pattern was counting by 5s?

At Home

Skip count real things: pairs of socks by 2s, fingers on hands by 5s, and dimes by 10s. Then do the matching page of the pack.

Tips for Success

• Touch each group and say the running total out loud
• The first total on pages 1 to 3 is filled in as an example
• On page 4, find the difference between the first two numbers to learn the rule
• Patterns that start on odd numbers (like 13, 23, 33) still count by 10s
