Five pages, eight words a page, taken from the 52 Dolch primer words with no word used twice. Each row starts with a word in a box. Five words follow: the word two or three times, and words that look like it, such as saw and was beside was, or three and these beside there. Children read the word in the box, then circle it every time they find it in its row. The first row of each page is done as an example, and the answer keys circle every one.
Read the boxed word aloud, then have children point under each word in the row and say yes or no before they circle. Words that look alike are the point: ask what is different between was and saw. Good as a quick warm-up or a word work center.
Have your child read each circled word aloud. Write one of the look-alike pairs on a card and talk about how they differ.
Finding Dolch primer sight words among words that look like them, such as was, saw and way. Children read the word in its box and circle it each time it is in its row.
