Five pages of sentence scrambles, four sentences on each after a worked example. Each sentence's words are printed in a mixed-up row beside its picture: children read them, work out the order and write the sentence on the handwriting line below. The word with the capital letter starts the sentence and the word with the end mark finishes it. The sentences use the Dolch first grade words and words children can sound out, and each goes together only one way.
Ask children to number the words in order above the row before they write, then read the sentence aloud. Early finishers can write a sentence of their own with two of the sight words on the page.
Read the mixed-up words with your child and ask which one starts the sentence. Let them read what they wrote back to you.
Mixed-up sentences made of Dolch first grade sight words and words children can sound out. Children read the words, put them in order and write the sentence on handwriting lines, no cutting needed.
