Five pages for learning the names of the coins. On page 1 students draw a line from each coin to its name: the four heads sides at the top, the four tails sides at the bottom, with the names in a mixed order. Page 2 has six rows, each starting with a name; students circle every coin in the row with that name, on either side. Page 3 is a group of fourteen coins to sort and count, with a table to write how many pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters there are. On page 4 students look at a heads side and circle the tails side of the same coin from three choices. Page 5 has eight coins, each with the four names under it, and students circle the right name. The pages show names only, never how much a coin is worth.
Hand out one real penny, nickel, dime, and quarter to each pair of students. Hold up each coin, say its name, and let students find the same one, then turn it over to see the other side. Read each page's direction and the names aloud before students start. On page 3, show how to mark each coin with a small check as it is counted, so none is counted twice.
Empty a pocket or a coin jar onto the table and sort the coins into four piles together, saying each name as you go. Then work through a page, looking at the real coins whenever a picture is hard to tell apart.

A 5-page coin pack for kindergarten that teaches the names of the four U.S. coins: penny, nickel, dime, and quarter. Draw a line from each coin to its name, first the heads sides and then the tails sides. Circle every coin that matches a name, count each kind of coin in a group and write how many, circle the tails side that goes with each heads side, and circle the name of each coin. The coins are shown at their real sizes next to each other. Every page comes in color and in black and white. Answer keys included.
