How to Use This Pack

Eight exit tickets, one for each lesson of a Kindergarten unit on counting to 100, in lesson order. Each page holds one lesson's ticket twice, with room for big Kindergarten writing: copy the page, cut on the dashed line, and fourteen copies give a class of 28 a ticket each. Read each question aloud: a small picture beside the question number (a sun, a moon) lets you say "Find the sun. Count by tens." Children answer one or two questions, then circle a face beside the "I can" line, which you read to them.

In the Classroom

Give the tickets in the last five minutes of the lesson, at a table or on the rug with clipboards. Sort them into three piles (got it, almost, not yet) to plan tomorrow's small groups. Ticket 10.7 (counting big groups by tens and ones) is for the states that teach it in Kindergarten. Ticket 10.8 fits the 100th day of school. The unit test is a separate pack.

At Home

Use a ticket as a quick check after practicing together. Read the question aloud and let your child count out loud, pointing to each box.

Tips for Success

  • Read every question aloud; children write numbers in boxes or circle
  • Say the picture first: "Find the moon," then the question
  • Let children count out loud: hearing "29, 30" helps them over a ten
  • Watch for "twenty-nine, twenty-ten": it shows who needs counting over a ten again
  • Keep each lesson's tickets to see who has caught up

Common Core Standards Alignment

This pack supports the following Common Core State Standards for Mathematics:

  • K.CC.A.1 Say the numbers in order up to 100, counting by 1s and also by 10s.
  • K.CC.A.2 Keep counting upward from a number other than 1, within the numbers already known.
  • 1.NBT.A.1 Count up to 120 from any starting number, and read, write and use numerals up to 120 to show how many objects.

Kindergarten Counting to 100 Exit Tickets

Kindergarten

Exit tickets for every lesson of a Kindergarten unit on counting to 100, made to be read aloud: one page a lesson, with the same ticket twice to copy and cut apart. Each ticket has one or two questions, answered by writing numbers in boxes or circling, and ends with an "I can" line and three faces for children to circle. Children count by tens with towers of cubes, fill in rows of the hundreds chart, count by ones, count on from any number, count over a ten (after 29 comes 30), finish hundreds chart puzzle pieces, and show 100 as ten groups of ten on the 100th day. Ticket 10.7 (counting big groups by tens and ones) is for the states that teach it. A small picture beside each question number lets the teacher say "find the sun." Answer keys for every ticket.
