Five pages to cut, glue and build. Page 1 is a clock face with an hour hand and a minute hand to cut out: push a paper fastener through the marked centers and the hands turn. On page 2 students cut out the numbers 1 to 12 and glue each into its box on the clock face, then add the hands (the answer key shows where every number goes). Page 3 is a minutes clock with 00, 05, 10 and so on around the outside. Page 4 is a digital clock with four windows and a slit above and below each one, with steps for putting it together and four times to set, and page 5 holds two sets of number strips: hours 1 to 12, tens of minutes 0 to 5, ones 0 to 9, and a.m. or p.m.
Print the clock pages on card stock and give each student a paper fastener. Make the clocks together, then call out times for students to show and hold up. Pair the analog clock with the digital clock: one student sets a time on one, a partner shows the same time on the other.
Build the clock together and keep it on the fridge. Each morning, set it to the time your child gets up, and each evening to bedtime, then compare it to a real clock.
