Each page is a 7 by 7 maze of numbers. Starting at START, students move up, down, left, or right to the next number in the pattern (add 6, add 4, subtract 8, or add 10) until they reach FINISH; there is only one way through, and the numbers beside the path are close but wrong. Under the maze they count the numbers on their path, decide whether they are all even or all odd, and write the next two numbers.
Use a maze as a warm-up or a center. Ask students why every number on the path is even (or odd): adding or subtracting an even number never changes it.
Have your child say the next number before looking for it. A pencil line through the maze makes the path easy to check against the answer key.

Four third grade number pattern mazes. Students follow a rule such as add 6 or subtract 8 from START to FINISH, moving up, down, left, or right, past numbers that are almost right. Then they count the numbers on their path, tell whether they are all even or all odd, and extend the pattern. Includes color and black-and-white versions and answer keys.
