Two pages that go over the whole unit on story problems within 100, to do together the day before the test. Its 10 questions take every lesson of the unit in the same kinds of story as the test, with other numbers, so nothing on the review is on the test. The last one (writing a story for a number sentence) is for the states that teach it. For most stories students write a number sentence, with + or − in the circle, and the answer with its unit. There is no Score line: it is practice, not a grade. The pre-check and the unit test are packs of their own.
Do the review together the day before the test, reading the stories aloud. Work a story, then let students try the next one on their own, and stop on any that trip up more than a few. Ask before each one: do more come, do some go away, or are we comparing? The keys show one number sentence for each story; any sentence that fits the story is right. The keys name each question's lesson, so a question the class misses points to the lesson to go back to.
Use the review as practice before a test at school. Read each story together, and ask your child to tell it back in their own words before solving it: do more come, do some go away, or are we comparing?
