One page to give on the first day of the unit on measurement and conversions, before any teaching. Its six questions are on the 3rd grade time and measuring skills the unit builds on: a clock to the minute, the minutes between two times, a dial scale in grams, a cylinder in milliliters, a ruler in quarter inches, and the multiplying a conversion needs. It has a Score line, and the key names the lesson each question leads into. The unit review and the unit test are packs of their own.
Give the pre-check on the first day and sort the class by what they missed: a student who cannot yet read a clock to the minute needs a teaching clock before elapsed time, and one who misses the multiplying needs a few minutes on times 10, 60 and 100 before conversion tables. The ruler is at real size, so print at 100%. Nothing on the page converts units yet, so a low score is no surprise; it shows where to start.
Use it to see what your child needs before the unit starts: read the kitchen clock together, and weigh or measure a few things around the house.

A check to give before the unit on measurement and conversions, on the time and measuring skills it builds on. Students tell time to the minute, find the minutes that pass, read a scale and a measuring cylinder, measure to the quarter inch, and multiply by 10, 60 and 100.
