Skills Covered

  • Say and write the 7 days of the week in order
  • Read the short names of the days
  • Know that a week has 7 days
  • Name yesterday, today and tomorrow
  • Tell school days from the weekend
  • Read a chart to find the day something happens

How to Use This Pack

Five pages about the seven days. Page 1 lists the days out of order: students write each one's number, Sunday being day 1, then answer three questions. Page 2 matches each day to its short name with a line. Page 3 has seven rows of yesterday, today and tomorrow with one day given in each row, so students count back and forward. Page 4 sorts the days into school days and the weekend, and page 5 is a week of zoo visits, one animal a day, with six questions such as which animal is visited the day after the giraffe.

In the Classroom

Sing the days of the week song before page 1. At morning meeting, say what today is, what yesterday was and what tomorrow will be, then try page 3. Page 5 works as a partner page: one reads a question aloud, the other finds the answer on the chart.

At Home

Each morning, ask your child what day it is and what day tomorrow will be. Talk about what you do on school days and on the weekend.

Tips for Success

  • Sunday is the first day on most calendars
  • Yesterday is the day before today; tomorrow is the day after
  • After Saturday the week starts again with Sunday
  • The weekend is Saturday and Sunday
